Eind juni was er een modeshow in Parijs voor de mode van het voorjaar van 2010. Een aantal ontwerpers lieten modellen in een mannenrok lopen. O.a. Comme des Garçons, Jean Paul Gaultier en Rick Owens. Givenchy had creaties op de catwalk waarbij de mannen een panty droegen.

Onderstaand enkele opmerkingen die ik gevonden heb op het internet:

"The summer 2010 men’s season is awash with floating fabrics, soft drapes, perforated mesh and some form of “skirt” worn over or attached to pants — all the things that are identified with the Rick Owens label........“It’s flattering,” Mr. Owens said of the copycats after his dynamic parade of elongated T-shirts, often as gauzy drapes across the torso. They were worn with a new departure for the designer: denim. Its faded blue was the only color beyond the black of a tough leather jacket or white T-shirt. The look was finished off with big boats of boots. But it was the “skirts” wrapped round the hips like expanding fanny packs that gave a hard, street look that was still hyper-masculine." - NY Times

Een opmerking die geplaatst was door een vrouwelijke lezer aan de hand van een artikel over de modeshow:

"I love Paris all the time. Regarding fashion - finally they breaking the uniformized “ice-age” of mens dressing and going comfortable. Congratulations!
I like to see more, and I like to see men in skirts. In other parts of our world men wearing skirts as an every-day wardrobe, they are happy and satisfied. Just show me some men in their every-day suits with tie smiling and walking, talking to other people, enjoying the life.
Okay, some outfits are questionable, but skirts are great for men - the only clothing what is really best for men’s body shape."
